I went to a donut shop and got a bagel and some coffe before I went into work. I had a lot on my mind, and just sat thinking while I watched early morning people come and go. After about 45 minutes I left and drove to work. I was still way too early, so I sat in my car and listened to music. I started to doze off when someone honked. I looked up and Jake was in his car next to me. He smiled, and I waved then got out.
"Here pretty early." He said.
"Yeah." I said, and smiled. I followed him inside after he unlocked the door.
"How is the wedding stuff going?" I asked him.
"Good. Great, actually." He said.
"Awesome!" I said. He clocked in, but I still had another half hour before my shift actualy started.
"Come keep me company in the office. I have paperwork to do." Jake said.
I followed him into the office and sat down on a filing cabinet in the corner. Jake pulled out a stack of papers, time cards, and a calculater.
"Kevin needs to invest in a computer for the office." I said.
"Yeah, fucking tell me about it." Jake said and laughed.
"So, whats on your mind?" He asked.
"What do you mean?" I asked him.
"You've been quiet. And you were totaly out of it when you were sitting in your car. I smiled, and told him about Chris, Brody, Rob, and of course, Lukas too. He gave me a funny look.
"Lukas is an ass. Well, he's pretty cool, but he's a total ladies man." Jake said.
"I know. I'm not saying I like him as in he is boyfriend material. Just attractive." I told him.
"Yeah, well I don't know Chris very well, but I know how you talk about him, and I think he is the best out of all of them." He said.
"Heh. Even Brody and Rob feel that way." I sighed.
"Why don't you feel that way?" He asked. The question caught me off guard.
"Well, do." I told him.
"Then why are you questioning it so much? Just let it happen." He said.
"I don't know." I told him.
"Trust me. Just let the relationship unfold. Stop worring so much about things that havn't happened, and won't happen. You are a good girl, trust yourself." He said.
"Thanks. I feel better." I told him.
"Good. Now clock in and get your lazy to work!" He said, and tossed a pencil at me. It hit my leg.
"HEY!" I shouted, and hit is arm when I walked by. He just laughed at me. I clocked in and then walked out front with Windex and a roll of paper towels to clean off the front doors. When I was done Brody and Rob were pulling into the parking lot. I wiped down the door handle one more time before they walked in. Rob pushed the door open by the window part instead of the handle.
"HEY! I just cleaned that off!" I said.
"Sorry." He mumbled, and went right to the back.
"What the hell?" I asked.
"We drank a LOT last night." Brody said.
"Yeah I know. I had to pick you fuckheads up, remember?" I asked. I was getting mad.
"Hey, calm down. Sorry." He said. I shoved the Windex and roll of towels in his hands, and stormed off to the other end of the store. I started pulling down old posters to make room for the new ones.
