Chapter One

"Not fucking AC/DC again!" I said as I walked into Tracks.
"Because they're the shit, babydoll." Brody said smiling. He was sitting on the checkout counter while flipping through the pages of an old Spiderman comic book.
"They ARE shit." I said. I went to the back and clocked in. Nobody was in yet and I was right on time. It pissed me off that everyone came in late and I couldn't figure out who they kept their jobs. I opened a box labled 12 inch vinyl and grabbed a stack of albums from it. We were only allowed to stock twenty at a time, so I counted them to make sure I wasn't grabbing too many. I had twenty-one. I put one back in the box and closed it. I walked out to the section of records and began stocking them. Our Boss, Kevin was a big record collector. It was amazing to see all the music he owned. I sighed and leaned back into the shelves. I looked up at Brody. His dark hair was short in the back and got a little longer in the front. He had long bangs that hung over his left eye. He always wore t-shirts with funny pictures or sayings on them. He was a huge fan of comic books, especially Spiderman. That day, he was wearing a Transformers t-shirt and black cargo pants that hung low on his waistline. "Got any gum?" He asked as he ran over to me.
"Nope. Sorry." I said.
"It's cool, sugar. It's cool." He said smiling.
We heard the bell ring that hung on a peice of string above the front door. Brody jumped up in the air a few times. He was only a few inches taller than me, so probably about 5'4". "It's Ariel." He said excited.
He went running into the break room after her as soon as she walked by us. I rolled my eyes. Brody had had a crush on Ariel since I could remember. He was always afraid to mention it to her. "Sorry, I'm late." She said to me as she walked back by. I watched her walk to the front check out counter. She sat down on a chair and started blowing bubbles with her gum. "She has gum." Brody whispered to me with a big grin on his face.
"Hun, she always has gum. When do you ever see her NOT blowing bubbles?" I said. I was not a morning person and I was never in a good mood when I had the morning shift at the store.
"Would you like some coffee, sugar?" He asked.
I smiled and nodded.
"Be right back." He said smiling. He winked at me and made a mad dash out of the store. Ariel giggled as she watched him run by the window next to her. Ariel's appearance was perfect. She had gorgeous long blond hair, bright blue eyes and she was very stylish. She was also very thin, unlike me. I never considered myself fat, but definatly did not have a perfect body. Not a one like Ariel's. She sighed and stood up as a customer walked into the store. I continued puting the prices on the records and stocking them in alphabetical order on the shelves. Ariel turned off AC/DC and put in John Mayer. I was releived. I could handle anything, but AC/DC at that point. "Morning, ladies!" I heard. It was Lukas. I stood up and watched him walk by. He smiled. I think he was the only good thing about the morning shift. He had short black messy hair and he always wore ties with untucked button-up shirts. I always pictured him as a Calvin Klein model. He was not the type, but he really had the body. I giggled and went back to stocking the albums right away when I heard him coming. "Heard from the boss man and it's just the four of us today." Brody said as he walked up and handed me a coffe from the cafe down the street.
"Damnit!" I said.
"It's okay. You've got Lukas to look at and I've got Ariel." He whispered.
"Dork." I said.
"Blockhead." He said.
I playfully pushed him and we both laughed.
"I'm so not a blockhead." I said.
A few customers walked into the store. Lukas joined Ariel up front and Brody quickly swept the floors. Just the four of us on a Saturday. Our busiest day of the week. I was not looking forward to it.
