"Tony?" Rob shouted.
"Oh, hey man." Anthony mumbled. He looked like hell. "What do you want?"
"Weed." Rob said.
"We're out actually. Benny just left to pick some up from Chavez." He said.
"Oh okay." Rob said. "Uh. . ." He looked at me and I smiled. He put his arm around Anthony and guided him down the hall. I rolled my eyes. A girl walked out of the kitchen with a little boy. He looked like he was about two or three. "Go wash your hands for lunch." She told the boy as she tapped him on the butt. "Who are you?"
"Blair. A friend of Rob's. He went down the hall with Anthony." I said, starting to feel a little scared.
"Do you have any E?" She asked.
"No. I don't. I'm sorry." I said.
"Blair?" I heard Rob say. "Do you want to just stay here?"
"No. I have to get back to Chris soon." I called back.
"Shit." He said. "Okay."
"Just bag it up for him!" The girl said looking at me.
I just smiled.
She winked at me and walked down the hall. "I'm ready, Mommy." I heard the boy say.
"Okay, sweetie. Pick up your toys. I'll make some mac and cheese." She said.
"Hey little guy." Rob said. "This is my friend Blair." He introduced us.
"Hi." I said smiling.
He looked up at me and ran away. "Tony and Christa's little boy." He said.
I thought it was horrible that they had that poor little boy around so much drugs, but I didn't want to say anything. I just smiled.
"Come on." He said.
"Why are you so secretive about your drugs?" I asked.
"I'm not."
"Yes you are." I laughed.
"Cause it's not stuff I want you to get into." He said.
I rolled my eyes. "Everyone treats me like I'm twelve."
"No. We just want to protect you." He said.
"And what are you protecting me from?" I asked frustrated.
"I don't know, Blair. Death maybe." He said. "It's serious shit."
"Then why do you do it?" I asked with anger.
"Because I like it. I choose it." He said. "If I die doing it, then I'll die happy."
"That is a horrible thing to say." I said.
"It's true. This is me, Blair. If you don't like it, then I don't know what to tell you." He said.
I felt like crying. "If I did, that would be me choosing. Just like you." I said.
"Well, you can choose it all you want. You'll just have to get it from another source." He said.
"Take me home." I said.
"Are you fucking kidding me?" He asked laughing. "I don't want to provide you with drugs, so you want to throw a little hissy."
I ignored him. I was so frustrated.
He sighed. "Fine. I'm sorry. You're right. It's your choice. What do you want to try?"
"Whatever you've got." I said.
He turned into a park. "Alright, let's do it." He said.
I smiled and we got out of the car. I followed him to a little sandy area. We both sat down against the wall. My heart started racing as he dug through his coat pocket. I smiled as I looked away and watched a car drive by.
