I layed down watching tv for about forty-five minutes utnil I heard GiGi start to cry.
"Shit." I whispered to myself.
I walked into Chris' bedroom where she was laying in her bassinette. She was so adorable. I picked up her pacifier that was laying next to her arm and put it in her mouth. She spit it out right away, then cried. I put it back in her mouth and she spit it out again.
"Okay. . ." I said. She contiued to wimper. I picked her up and swayed back and forth. "Somewhere over the rainbow." I started to sing. I peaked out of the room to make sure nobody could hear me, even though I knew nobody was there. I didn't like anyone to hear me sing. "Way up high." She smiled. "There's a land that I heard of, once in a lullaby." I giggled when she smiled again. "My Mommy use to sing this to me." I told her in a baby voice. She just stared at me with her big blue eyes. "You are so cute." I said.
She let out a loud burp and spit up all over my arm. "Eww. Oh my god!" I said. She started crying. I ran to the living room and layed her down on the floor. I ran to the bathroom and washed my arm, then grabbed a towel to wipe her mouth. "Ah crap." I said when I heard her fart. "Please don't poop till Mommy comes back." I said.
She farted again and it was obvious she was pooping. Her face turned red as she tried to push it out. "Shit. I can't change a diaper." I said. She started to cry again. I grabbed the diaper bag and pulled out a diaper. I unsnapped her little shorts and held my breath as I took off her diaper. There wasn't much poop, but boy did it stink. I dug through the bag for wipes and couldn't find any. I got up and ran to Chris' room. The box of wipes were on the dresser. I ran back to her and wiped her butt. I gagged as I threw it in the garbage. I put a new diaper on her and as soon as I was done, Chris and Sarah walked into the apartment with some garbage bags.
"How did it go?" She asked me.
"Pretty good." I said.
She kneeled down and buttoned her shorts back up. She picked her up and went to Chris' room.
"Did it really go well?" He asked. "What in gods name is that smell?"
"It's shit." I said.
"Did you throw the diaper in the garbage?" He asked.
"Yeah."
He grabbed the garbage and took it out. "Never! Never never never put a diaper in the garbage without puting it in a bag first." He said. He left with the trash. When he came back, he hugged me. "But, you did good. Thanks." He said.
I smiled. "You're welcome. She's adorable." I said.
"She's not even sure who the father is. She was cheating on her boyfriend with some scumbag." He told me quietly. He laughed. "Don't look so surprised. It's normal where I'm from."
I just smiled.
"Hey Chris?" Sarah said.
"What?" He asked. He walked over to his room. I picked up my phone and went to my bedroom. I wanted to talk to Brody.
"Hi." He said.
"Are you okay?" I asked.
"Nope."
"Let me take you to dinner." I said.
"Why?"
"Please." I said.
He sighed.
"I want to talk about everything." I said.
"I'm such a screwup." He said.
"No you're not." I said.
"Kevin left me a message on my phone saying I was an asshole and I better be in to work early tomorrow." He said.
"So, go in." I said.
"It sucks." He said.
"Please let me take you to dinner." I said.
"Okay." He said.
"Thanks."
"What time can you pick me up?" He asked.
"From Sherrie's?" I asked.
"Yes, Blair."
"Six." I said and hung up.
Suddenly, I heard myself singing. "What the. . ." I said. I walked out of my room and into Chris'. "You have an amazing voice." Sarah said smiling.
I was so confused. She pushed stop on a small cassette player. I was really embarassed. "Sorry. I record myself sometimes. I must have accidently hit record before I left." She said.
I didn't know what to say. Chris stood up and walked over to me. "I've heard you sing in the shower and it always sounded great, but holy shit. You can sing." He said.
I shook my head no. "Nah."
"Yes you can." He said.
"You can." Sarah said. "I sing too. We should sing together for fun."
"Sarah plays the guitar too." He said.
"I have to go meet Brody." I said. I smiled and walked out of the room.
"Blair?" I heard Chris say. He followed me out to the living room.
"Blair?"
"I'll be back in a little bit." I said.
"Why are you acting weird?" He asked softly.
"I don't want to sing with anyone. Jesus, Chris. You know me." I said.
"Okay. I'm sorry." He said. "It's just my sister though."
"I'm NOT singing in front of ANYONE." I said, trying to make myself more clear.
"Has Brody heard you sing?" He asked.
I rolled my eyes. "Are you kidding me?"
"Has he?" He asked.
"Just karaoke." I said grabbing my purse.
"Okay this is a stupid thing to get all worked up about." He said.
"Maybe it is to you, but when my privacy is disrespected, it IS worth getting worked up about." I said rudly. I left and ran to my car. I had no idea where to go. I wasn't even suppose to get Brody for another three hours.
