We drove to the club, Stock Underground and went in. It looked neat. They lights were low and everything was pretty laid back. There were a few tables by the bar in the back, but most of the space was open floor with a stage to the right of the entrance. There were a few pool tables to the left. We were kind of early, so there weren't too many people.
"Brody!" The bartender yelled, and waived. Brody waived backed and we walked up to the bar.
"Who is the pretty lady?" The bartender asked. He looked about Rain's age, maybe a year or two older, and had his short black hair combed back. He was wearing a blue workshirt that reminded me of something you would see a mechanic wear. He had a pack of cigarettes in the shirt pocket, and one cigarette tucked in his ear. He had a lot of tattoos too. He was kind of short, not much taller then me.
"This would be Blair." Brody said.
"Hi Blair, I'm Sam. People around here call me Dagget." He said.
"Nice to meet you Dagget." I said, and shook his hand. He held onto it for a second and smiled. I felt myself blush.
"Hey, she's with me tonight." Brody said, and laughed.
"Sorry. I can't help myself around the pretty ones." He said, and I smiled.
"What can get you?" He asked.
"Um, Gin and Tonic." I said.
"You got it. Brody?"
"I'll just have Bud." He said.
"You mean piss water." Dagget said, and I laughed. "Come on, have a mans drink!"
"A BUD!" Brody said.
"Okay, okay. Coming up." He said and started making my drink after he put Brody's beer in front of him. He handed me my drink and Brody paid.
"Hey, babe, be right back." He said, and ran over to where some guys were loading music equipment.
"Oh-okay." I said, feeling a little awkward.
"Brody. He is so clueless." Dagget said.
"Tell me about it." I told him, and he laughed.
"He never knows when girls like him." He said. "Or how to treat them like girls he likes instead of like a friend or a kid sister."
"How well do you know him?" I asked.
"He's friends with my little brother." Dagget said.
"Oh, okay. Well, you got it right." I said, and took a sip of my drink.
"Well, if he does something stupid, just come get me. I know how to treat a pretty lady." He said, and I giggled.
"Thanks. I'll keep that in mind." I said.
"I'm serious." He told me.
"Me too." I said. I looked up and Brody was waiving at me to come over.
"Bye." I said, and walked over to Brody.
"Sorry! I'm an idiot. I don't know why I told you to wait there." He said, and put his arm around my waist.
"Bennie, this is Blair." He said.
"Nice to meet you Bennie." I said, and shook his hand.
"You too." Bennie said.
"Bennie is the singer." Brody told me.
"Oh cool." I said, and took a sip of my drink. They started talking about bands I had never heard of, and I started daydream and look around. I caught a glimpse of Dagget and looked over at him. He was singing to the song that playing on the jukebox. "Story of my life, oh oh ay oh, the story of my life..." I think is how it went. It sounded neat. He saw me looking at him and smiled at me. I smiled back and turned back to Brody.
"I'm gonna use the bathroom." I told him.
"Okay," He said, absent mindedly. I laughed and walked to the bathroom. When I came back out Dagget waved for me to come over, so I did.
"So you like Social D?" He asked me.
"What?" I asked.
"Social Distortion." He said.
"Who?" I asked. He laughed.
"The band I was singing to." He said.
"Oh. I had never heard it. But I really liked it." I told him.
"Well, you should check them out." He said.
"I will." I told him.
"Awesome." He said and smiled.
"I better go back to Brody." I told him, but just stood there.
"Okay. See you later." He said. I still just stood there. Suddenly I realized I was just standing there, and got embarassed. I blushed and walked away real quick.
"Idiot." I said to myself, and shook my head. I walked back over to Brody and he took me to a table so we could sit down and talk before the band started.
