When he called me back I ignored it, and he left me a voicemail. I checked the message.
"Blair, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be a jerk there. I know you havn't had the best of times lately. I'm sorry I miss all the clues you give me too. I was just hoping to see you, and I get jealous sometimes of how close you are with Chris. Well, I hope you aren't too pissed at me. Again, I'm sorry. Bye."
I sighed, and went back to bed. Chris was asleep. I climbed in bed with him and put my arm around him. I couldn't sleep though. I kept thinking about what Brody said. Eventualy I did fall asleep.
The next morning I got up and went to work. Jake had taken the day off.
"Hey, are you sure you are okay to be here?" Kevin asked me.
"Yeah." I told him, and clocked in.
"Hey, I don't do this often, but I wanted to apologize for being such an ass to you the last couple weeks. I didn't realize how crazy stuff was for you until Jake told me about it." He said. I just shrugged. I felt kind of uncomfortable.
"It's okay." I told him, and went to my locker. He followed me, and stood behind me as I put my stuff in my locker, leaning on the locker next to mine.
"I'm fine, really." I told him, and smiled.
"Well, if you need anything, you can come to me." He said. I could almost feel him looking at me.
"I'm really okay." I said, and shut my locker door. He put both of his arms on either side of me, pinning me between him and the locker.
"I know how hard it is sometimes. All you need is an understanding ear." He said, and leaned in to kiss me. I ducked, and slid under his arms, and he hit hit is head on the locker.
"I'm fine." I said, and ran out of the back. I got behind the counters and sat down on a stool.
"Are you okay?" Lukas asked me.
"Fine." I said.
"You look a little shaken up." He told me.
"I'm fine." I said, again.
"Uh, okay. Sorry." He said, and walked out to the floor to go find something to do. I sighed, and layed my head down on the counter.
"Whats wrong?"
I looked up and Brody was standing in front of me.
"This day isn't starting off so good." I told him.
"Come over after work. We'll watch some Luke Wilson, and cheer you up." He said.
"Thanks." I said, and smiled. He smiled back, then walked off to finish whatever job he had started. I got through the rest of the day by completely avoiding Kevin. I kept telling myself that he must have just misinterpreted something I had done or said. When It was time to leave I waited until I saw Brody go to the back so I wouldn't be back there alone.
"Hey. Luke Wilson time?" He asked me.
"Yeah." I said, and clocked out after he did. I saw Kevin out of the corner of my eye, and then turned and kissed Brody on the cheek real quick. He looked confused.
"What was that for?" He whispered.
"Just. shh." I said, and held his hand. Kevin walked out of the office.
"I didn't know you guys were dating." He said.
"We are." I told him. Brody looked at me weird.
"You both know the policy on dating?" He asked.
"Uh, yes we do." Brody told him.
"As long as you follow that, there wont be any problems." Kevin said, then looked at me sternly and walked back to his office.
"What was that about?" Brody asked me when we got out back.
"Kevin came on to me earlier." I told him.
"What?" He asked.
"He tried to kiss me. So when I saw him I kissed you hoping if he thought we were dating he'd leave me a lone." I told him.
"That jerk!" He said.
"Just, leave it alone." I told him.
"NO! He is an asshole!" Brody said.
"Brody! I like this place, and I need this job. Just let it go." I told him.
"You promise that if he does that again you'll tell me. And I'll fucking settle it." Brody said.
"Fine. Can we drop it?" I asked him.
"Yeah." He said. We got in my car and I drove to Lukas and Rob's house since he was still staying with them. He put on Home Fries, and we layed down on the couch together to watch it.
