Christina said...

"It's okay. Can we go get it?" He asked.
"Yeah, Come on." I said, and stood up.
"Do you want me to drive?" He asked.
"No, don't be silly." I said, and yawned.
"You still look half stoned." He said, and I froze. He laughed.
"I can smell it babe." He said, and opened the front door.
I didn't say anything, and just walked out to the car. Chris started laughing when we got in.
"What?" I asked.
"You don't have to be so embarassed about it." He said.
"I fell like crap." I told him.
"See, it's not all fun and games." He said. "Drugs never are. You eventualy come down. Or you get more drugs."
"It's sucks." I told him.
"Yeah, it does." He said. I drove to the pharmacy and dropped off his prescriptions. We walked around the store for a little while until they were ready. Chris picked them up and listened to the woman go over everything. I was so bored and tired, I just wanted to go to bed.
"Ready?" Chris asked.
"Huh?" I asked, and looked at him. He laughed.
"Are you ready?" He repeated.
"OH, yeah. Sorry." I said, and we left. When we got home he took some Viccadin while I made us some breakfast.
"I'm so hungry!" I said, walking out to the living room with our plates. He started laughing.
"What?" I asked.
"That is a side affect I guess. Pot head." He laughed more.
"Shut up!" I said, and smiled. We ate, and then went to our rooms to get some sleep. I woke up several hours later to Chris knocking on my door.
I got up and answered it.
"Sorry. I'm hungry, but I can't seem to function. I just put the whole package of cheese in the microwave, instead of making a quesadilla." He said. He looked so cute and I laughed.
"Oh great!" I said.
"I'll clean it up later, but I need help right now." He said, laughing.
"You are so funny right now." I said, and walked out to the kitchen with him. I made us some food. When we were done eating we sat down on the couch to watch TV. Chris started falling asleep, so I woke him up and made him go back to bed. I sat back down on the couch and my phone rang.
"Hello!" I answered.
"Hey sexy, it's Rob." He said.
"Hey, How is work?" I asked him.
"I'm off! Finally." He said. "Do you want to hang out again tonight? It doesn't have to be another all nighter." He said.
"Yeah sure!" I told him.
"Awesome. I'll pick you up in, uh...how about an hour?" He asked.
"Sure!" I said. We hung up and I ran and jumped in the shower. When I got out I must of brushed my teeth at least 5 times, and my mouth still fet gross. I got dressed and waited for Rob. He knocked on my door a few minutes later.
"Lets go." He said, and grabbed my hand. I laughed, and shut and locked the door behind me.
"Where are we going?" I asked him.
He stopped me in the hallway, and started kissing me. He stopped and looked at me.
"Sorry, I've been wanting to do that all day." He said, and I laughed. He didn't answer my question and just kept walking out to his car.
"Where are we going?" I asked im again, when we climbed in the car.
"To the beach." He said.
"To the beach?" I asked.
"Yeah. Punks go to the beach you know." He said.
"Uh, they do? I've never seen 'em." I said. He just laughed.
"Who do you think leaves all the cigarette butts and empty beer cans?" He asked, and I burst into laughter.
"Glad you think I'm so funny." He said. Rob drove for about an hour to a very isolated stretch of beach. He parked, and we both got out. The sun had only been down for about half an hour.
"I love it out here." I said. He just smiled, and took my hand. We walked down to the beach, and stood in the surf.
"Hey, you still have your shoes on." I said, looking down.
"I don't like to take them off." He said.
"Weirdo. Now your feet are all soggy." I told him. He just shrugged and I laughed. We walked along the beach for a long time talking. We talked all about growing up, and how different our lives had become. It was neat to get to know Robs deeper side. He still couldn't help but crack a few corny jokes now and then when things got too serious. We walked back to the car, and stopped. Rob pushed me against the car and started kissing me again. Just then my phone rang.
"Damn it." I said, and fished it out of my purse. "Chris." I said, then answered it.
"Hey."
"Hey. Blair, I burned my hand." He said.
"WHAT?" I shouted. He sounded confused.
"I was trying to cook dinner, and I burned my hand. I think I took an extra viccodin on accident." He said. I listened to him, and he was kind of slurring.
"SHIT!" I said, and felt horrible guilty for leaving him alone.
"I'll be home in like an hour. How bad is it?" I asked.
"I don't know, I can't feel it, but it's all red." He said.
"Fuck. Keep running it under cold water okay. If it starts to blister and I'm not home, call your sister to take you to emergancy, okay?" I asked.
"Okay." He said, and hung up.
"Time to go?" Rob asked.
"Yeah." I said, and jumped in the car. I was shaking the whole way home! I was worried about Chris, and angry at myself. When we got there Rob and I jumped out and ran upstairs. Chris was sitting on the couch, holding an icepack on his arm.
"Hey." He said, and smiled. He still looked out of it.
"Let me see." I said, and sat down next to him. He moved the ice pack, and felt tears well up in my eyes.
"CHRIS! This is really bad! You said it wasn't bad! You need to go back to the hospital." I told him.
"I can't feel it." he said.
"Because you're on viccodin." I told him. He still looked confused. I picked up his bottle and counted the pills he had left, then did some quick math in my head.
"Chris! You are three short! You took too much!" I told him.
"Lets get him to emergancy." Rob said, walking out of the kitchen. "I shut the stove off." He said.
"Okay. Come on Chris, lets go." I said, helping him up. Rob helped me get him down to the car. He threw up right before he got in. Rob spead to the emergency room, and we all rushed inside.
I told the nurse what happened, and the took him right away.
"It's not your fautl." Rob said to me in the waiting room.
"Yes it is. I shouldn't have left him alone." I said.
"No it isn't. I'm sure Chris thinks the same thing." He said, and put his arm around me. I put my head on his shoulder and waited to hear from someone. A nurse walked out about two hours later. She spotted us, and walked over.
"He's fine. The doctor is releasing him. He did take to much medication, but not enough to do any real damage. He burned himself pretty good, but we've seen much worse. If you come with me, I'd like to explain how to change the dressings on his arms." She said. I nodded and followed her. Another hour later Rob was driving us home. Chris was asleep in the backseat. When we got there Rob helped me get Chris back upstairs and into bed.
"I better get going." Rob said when we got back out to the living room.
"Okay." I said, and started to cry.
"I can stay here if you want. I don't have to work tomorrow." He said.
"No, it's okay." I told him, and wiped my eyes.
"It's not a problem. I can help you keep an eye on Chris." He said. I sighed.
"Okay. If you want." I told him.
"I do. I'm kind of worried about you." He said. I just walked into the kitchen and started cleaning up the mess Chris had made.
