I got up the next morning when my phone rang. I missed the call, but whoever it was left a message. I checked it. It was kevin telling me to take the rest of the next week off, and he'd have me on a full schedule when I got back. "Damn it." I said, and hung up the phone. I knew I wasn't going to have the money to pay for rent. I got up and Chris was already ready for work. "Hey." He said from the kitchen. "Hey." I said. "What's the matter?" He asked. "Kevin is giving me next week off." I told him. "He is?" Chris asked. "Yeah. Chris, I'm not going to have my share of rent." I told him, and felt like crying. "It's okay Blair. I can float you this time." He said. "I feel horrible." I said, and wiped my eyes. "Don't. It's okay." He said, and hugged me. "I'm running late, but I'll see you later, okay." "Okay." I said. He grabbed his hat and his keys and left. I sat down on the couch and sighed. After flipping through channels for a while, I got bored and decided to get up and get ready. I called Brody and Rob, but they were both at work. I sighed and called Jake. "Hey." He answered. "Hey. How have you been?" I asked him. "Better." He said, and laughed. "You?" He asked. "Better." I said. "Are you busy today?" I asked him. "Nope. Did you want to do something?" He asked. "Yeah. I'm bored. I'm off the schedule all next week." I told him. "Why?" He asked. "It's a long story." I said. "How about I come pick you up?" He asked. "Sure." I said. We talked for a few minutes, then hung up. Jake got there a few minutes later and we decided to just go for a drive and talk. I told him all about my past week. "You are so crazy." He said, and laughed. "Yeah. What have you been up to?" I asked him. "Not much. Ignoring my parents." He said. "You'll have to talk to them eventualy." I told him. "Yeah. Have you talked to your mom?" He asked. "No." I sighed. "You will eventually." He said, and I giggled. "Yeah, I know. I just don't want to." I told him. "Me either." He said. We ended up driving back to his place to hang out for a while. "It's weird that I have a brother, and I guess a half sister too." He said when we got to his place. "Yeah. Crazy." I said. We hung out for a while talking. I was glad I was getting to know Jake better. He turned out to be a really neat guy, and it was nice knowing I had a guy friend, that was ACTUALY just a friend. Family even. After a few hours he took me home so I could wait for Chris to get off work.
