Chapter Forty

"You look nice." Lukas said as I stepped up in front of the register.
"Thank you." I said very flattered.
"You're very welcome." He said.
A guy walked into the store. His Raiders baseball cap was sideways and his pants were so big that even his belt was helping to hide his ass. Lukas and I looked at eachother. He shook his head as he watched the guy walk behind the rap section. "Hey, Blair." Lukas said.
"Yeah?" I asked turning towards him.
"How was the show with Brody?" He asked.
"It was alright." I said. "I don't really get into the same music as him. They were a pretty good band though."
"Simple Plan was pretty good." He said. "Lot's of girls there."
I giggled.
"I didn't look very manly." He said. "I needed a girl with me so it looked like I was taking my girlfriend."
"Oh please." I giggled.
"I'm just kidding. You would have liked it though I'm sure." He said.
"Probably." I said. "Oh well."
"I can't beleive The White Stripes will be in the store." He said.
"You a fan?" I asked.
"Of course I am." He said, like as if I should have known.
"I'm not really familiar with your musical preferences." I said.
"Well, maybe you should come over and check out my collection." He said.
I just looked at him and smiled. The Raiders guy walked up to the counter in front of Lukas.
"Hello, sir. Did you find everything okay?" Lukas asked him with way too much enthusiasm.
"Yeah." The guy said.
Lukas rang up his cd's. "Wu Tang." Lukas said. "Sweet."
"Yeah." The guy said as he handed him his debit card.
"Wow. Nice watch." Lukas said. The guy covered it quickly with his sleeve. He looked at Lukas as if he were going to try and steal it form him. His watch was gold and ugly if you ask me. I wasn't much of a 'bling' person. I heard a cell phone ring and the guy pulled on out of pocket. It had gold jewls all over it. "Figgy here, what up?" He said.
"Enter your pin." Lukas said handing the guy his card.
He entered his pin number and Lukas bagged the cd's. "No way, fucka. No way. Dat bitch fuckin'. . . ah fuck." He said. He took the bag and walked out of the store.
"Interesting." I said.
"What fucka?" Lukas asked mocking the guy.
I laughed.
"Those guys crack me up." He said.
"Me too." I giggled.
"So, tonight?" He asked.
"What?"
"Come over to my place." He said.
"Oh."
He laughed. "You can say no."
My heart started beating really fast. "No." I blurted out.
"Alright." He said softly as he nodded. He turned back towards his register and sat down on the stool in front of it.
"I mean, yeah sure okay." I said.
He turned around and I smiled. I felt so stupid. He just looked at me. "Um." I said.
"Right after work?" He asked.
I just nodded smiling.
"Looks like I may have to give you a few drinks so you talk to me." He said.
I giggled.
He smiled. "So, six." He said.
"Uh huh." I said.
"Quick meeting." Kevin said as he walked into the store. He was pointing towards the back as he walked by us.
"Great." I sighed.
"Yeah. I heard there was some money missing again." Brody said. I watched him step down from the registers counter and start walking to the back.
"Fantastic!" I said to myself. I was really frustated.
